Millard Realty and Construction was established in Carson City
in 1961 by the former father of the family, Gordon Millard (1901-1998).
Gordon was an ordained minister for over 50 years, and started
Millard Realty and Construction during his tenure in Carson
City. He foresaw the need in Carson City for housing and
anticipated substantial growth for the capital of Nevada.
All three of his sons, Virgil (1921-2003), Vern, and Dwight
have worked in the company. Today Vern is the real estate
contact for all of the Stanton Homes' new single family home
developments. Swede Stolt represents all the previously
owned homes for the real estate division of the company.
Dwight is involved in the overall day to day operations of the
company, which not only includes real estate and construction,
but Empire Ranch Golf Course, a 27 hole championship course,
and the Carson City Plaza Hotel (168 rooms and suites) and the
multi-purpose event and meeting Conference Center. The
company has several other family members and key employees who
are involved with its success as well.
Our
construction department operates very efficiently under the
management of Randy Millard, who oversees the entire construction
division. Dee Borges keeps all aspects of our office running
smoothly and oversess our rental apartments and homes.
Dee is assisted by Monica Martinez, who is bi-lingual and has
been invaluable with translation assistance for home buyers
and renters. Ruth Hughes is our comptroller and efficiently
manages all financials and accounting for our many diverse companies.
She is also very popular with our sub-contractors for getting
the checks out on time. Renee Millard assists Ruth with
accounting and does all our courier services. Michael
Millard is involved in the Sales and Marketing of the Plaza
Hotel as well as coordinating special projects within the company.
Millard
has been blessed with many loyal, long-term employees who have
contributed over the years to the successful and efficient operation
of the company. Scott Jones (32 years) continually cuts
house pads to within a half inch of level. Scott Etchison
(3 years) oversees special building projects. Al Canary
(2 years) oversees our five man maintenance crew that takes
care of all our residential and commercial rental units.
Our maintenance crew works, or is on call, 24 hours a day, 7
days a week.
With
all our varied businesses and interests, Millard Realty is an
